Australasia Trip Website
Our trip from January 01, 2006 to March 16,
2006 took us from Calgary via Los Angeles to Singapore flying
with Singapore Airlines. After several days we flew to
Christchurch, New Zealand and commenced our two week tour of the South
Island. We then took the ferry from Picton to Wellington on the
North Island and toured it for two weeks also.
We flew from Auckland to Melbourne and
connected via Virgin Blue to Adelaide where we commenced our
tour from Adelaide via the Great Ocean Road to Melbourne. From
Melbourne we drove to Canberra and then on to Sydney.
From Sydney we flew to Cairns. We drove to the
end of the sealed road at Cape Tribulation and then south to
Brisbane stopping along the way to see the Great Barrier Reef
and Fraser Island. Cyclones brewing out in the Pacific brought
on stormy weather reduced our time on the reef.
We flew from Brisbane via Singapore to Phuket,
Thailand and stayed at the Marriott Beach Club. After a restful
week there we flew to Hong Kong. From Hong Kong after more than
10 weeks we flew via San Francisco finally back home to Calgary.
The following pages present some of the photos
we took on our aging Canon S45 digital camera as well as some of
our impressions of the places we visited. We also have included
the email messages we sent while on the road - unfortunately we
had trouble using various mailers since both NZ and OZ are a bit
behind us in broadband connections. So some people got all
messages and some got only one or two. Finally, Jordan collected
interesting signs of our trip down under that are often both
quite informative and amusing.
We had a great time, learned a lot, and hope
to visit many of the places again soon. We hope you will enjoy
