We enjoyed our week's stay in Phuket, Thailand especially
our 6 star condo at the Phuket Marriott Beach resort on the north end of
the island. We travelled into Phuket City and Patong, and passed
hillside villages, rubber plantations and industrial suburbs. The Thai people we encountered were always polite, helpful, hard
working and gracious. Click on the map above to see the lay-out of the
island of Phuket.

The Marriot Beach Resort had acres of tropical
gardens and three beautiful pools, as well as a private beach.

The architecture of the resort reflected the Sino-Portugese
tradition of Thailand. |
|

"Mr. Lucky" was our friendly taxi driver and
guide around the island. |

Phuket City is the hub of the island featuring
an exciting mix of modern businesses and shopping centers,
historical mansions and Chinese shrines. |
|

In Phuket's Old Town the buildings reflect
Chinese influence and the Portugese colonial past.
|

In front of almost every home and business
there was a shrine with offerings of flowers and fruit.
|
|

Jordan and Carol enjoyed an elephant trek
through rubber plantations.
|

Thai cuisine is reknown for its fresh
ingredients and tantalizing spices. |
