The Great Barrier Reef is 2000 kilometers long stretching from Lady Elliot island off Bundaberg to just south of Papua New Guinea. It is home to 1,500 kinds of fish, 400 species of coral, 4,000 kinds of clams and snails and various sponges, urchins and starfish. We enjoyed trying underwater photography with an underwater housing for our camera.

There are many points on the coast from which to access the reef. A 90 minute boat ride takes passengers to a platform stationed on the outer reef. From the platform it is possible to scuba dive, snorkel or view the reef from a glass bottom boat.

Jordan tried scuba diving and thought it was "totally awesome."
